URW Leadership Team 2017-18
Melissa Haunty – President
Melissa serves as the events, hospitality, and volunteer lead at Upper House, an initiative of the Stephen & Laurel Brown Foundation. She joined the Upper House staff and became a member of URW in June 2015, readily joining the community of religious workers at UW-Madison. Melissa is honored to serve in the presidential role and is passionate about connecting with fellow religious workers on campus and developing on-going relationship with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Being a native of this city, Melissa has a deep love for Madison, including the University, and wants to see its communities and students thrive. In her free time, she enjoys reading, journaling, singing, traveling, and dining at local eateries.
Mary Kneisel – Vice President for Membership and Finance
works with Youth With A Mission- Phos House, an international Christian community house. She first came to Madison in 2010, then joined staff with Youth With A Mission and became a member of URW in February 2011. She is originally born and raised in North Carolina where she also received a BA degree in Psychology and a minor in Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Through this leadership role Mary anticipates growing a greater love and appreciation for the university & city as a whole. In her free time, she and her husband enjoy cooking at home and exploring new eats in Madison as well as singing, playing music, watching star trek, and hiking.
Jake McClanahan – Vice President for Programming
Jake works with His House Christian Fellowship as the head campus minister on UW-Madison’s campus. Jake first connected with His House as a student at UW while completing degrees in Neuroscience and German language. He is currently in his third year as a religious worker on campus, and strives to provide quality programming that better connects his colleagues to both the university and one another. When not at work, he enjoys exploring the city of Madison and reading a good book.
Jonathan Melton – Vice President for Outreach
Jonathan is an Episcopal priest and chaplain at the St. Francis House Episcopal Student Center, where he has served since 2012. In his second stint on the URW leadership team, Jonathan’s focus is strengthening the connection between the URW and UW-Madison through sustained relationships that develop candor, trust, and genuine partnership. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys life with his family, hacking at the guitar, writing, and dabbling in the world of podcasts.
